1996~~~
-Received Presbyterian Church, Birthday Offering
-Official Opening: "Healing in Our Land Conference"- Featuring Jonathan Sloucumb and Jackie McCullough. Over 1800 people attended; 19 churches co-sponsored).
-Survivors United Homicide Program was created to meet the needs of those who experience the loss of losing a loved one due to a violent crime.
-M.A.S.H. Educational Intervention Program (Men Against Spousal Harm) The purpose of MASH is to hold batterers accountable for their actions and to increase the safety of victims of domestic violence.
1997~~~
-Safe Dates Program: This program was implemented to prevent dating violence by changing dating violence norms, gender stereotyping & conflict resolution skills to over 3,000 students.
1998~~~
-Public Awareness Program was established to spread a zero tolerance for domestic violence. We received financial support from the MS Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance.
1999~~~
-Hosted first state-wide conference on Domestic Violence Prevention entitled: “Broken Vows – Broken Promises”
-Certification Training for Batterer’s Programs was implemented.
2000~~~
-Family First Resource Center Program was established to provide an after school program and parenting skills to parents of the participants in conjunction with New Life Church, Cleveland, MS.
-The Domestic Violence Outreach/Educational Program was selected by Praxis International, Duluth, MN as a model program. (5 winners were selected from 50 states)
-B.A.R.T. (Becoming A Responsible Teen) Program was conducted in 16 high schools. Although the focus of BART is HIV/AIDS prevention, abstinence is woven into the curriculum and is discussed as the only sure way to prevent HIV infection and pregnancy.
2001~~~
-First Public Relations Tape created on "Education is the key to ending violence"
-Rape Crisis Program was created: Sadly, every day in this country, at least 1,871 women are sexually assaulted. We developed this program to assist survivors of sexual assault and abuse in their process of recovery and healing.
2002~~~
-Fatherhood Program with Agape Storge Christian Center, Greenville, MS was implemented to encourage Fathers to be actively involved in the lives of their children.
-I.M.P.A.C.T. (Indianola Model for Progressive Academic and Creative Training) with Gentry High School was developed to provide an after school program.
-L.E.A.H. (Letting Each Affliction Heal) Domestic Violence Victim's Program. This is an aftercare and support group program for victims of domestic violence. We are at the forefront in helping victims of abuse through their crisis in our community.
-Purchased A New Facility - 1213 VFW Road, Greenville, MS
-Youth to Youth Program Violence affects the quality of life of young people who experience, witness, or feel threatened by it. This program offers activities that will decrease the chances of youth becoming involved in delinquent activities.
2003~~~
-Behavior Modification Institute was established to provide domestic violence and sexual assault training for lay persons, social workers, law enforcement personnel and clergy.
-Accepted as a United Way Agency for Bolivar County
2004~~~
-"A New Beginning Shelter" was opened to provide safe shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children.
2005~~~
-International Partnership established with Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York & W.K. Kellogg National Foundation. The development of this partnership allows us to have international dialogues to empower the aged in our community.
2006~~~
-We were accepted as a United Way Agency for Washington County, Mississippi
2007~~~~
-We acquired two new programs: Rural Legal Services for 19 counties in the MS Delta and Healthy Marriage Initiative Program serving Humphreys and Leflore counties
2008~~
-We changed our Homicide Survivor United Program to Abel’s Survivors of Homicide Loss and we named our Rape Crisis Program: S.A.R.A.H.-Sexual Assault Responders Advocating Healing.
2009~~~~
We received the Mary Kay Ash grant, W. K. Kellogg Grant, Wal-Mart Foundation grant. Two staff were certified as Forensic Examiners. We co-hosted Counseling & Treating People of Colour, An International Perspective Conference in Mesa, Arizona
